ROVOS RAIL & SOUTH AFRICA 8 days / 7 nights

Since its establishment in 1989, Rovos Rail has earned an international reputation for its truly world-class travel experiences. The beautifully rebuilt wood-panelled trains, which may be hauled by diesel or electric locos, each carry a maximum of 72 passengers in 36 superbly appointed suites.

Day 1    Arrive Johannesburg. Transfer from OR Tambo International Airport to DAVINCI Hotel & Suites Nelson Mandela Square.Check-in to DAVINCI Hotel & Suites Nelson Mandela Square for 2 nights

Day 2    Today, enjoy a private half day Soweto Tour. With a population of over 2 mio, the biggest black urban settlement in Africa with a rich political history. Soweto was the centre of political campaigns aimed at the overthrow of the Apartheid state. The 1976 student uprising started in Soweto and spread to the rest of the country. Many of the insights on this route therefore have political significance.

Day 3-6    Today start your 4-day/3-night journey aboard the legendary ROVOS RAIL. Included activities are Kimberley's Diamond Mine Museum, the Big Hole, Matjiesfontein historic village. Your journey ends on Day 6 at 3pm in Cape Town. Included services: Accommodation; all meals; all beverages on board; room service; limited laundry; guided excursions (where applicable); preselected local wines, beers and soft drinks on excursions; entrance fees as per itinerary; govt tax. 

Upon arrival in Cape Town by train, private transfer to your hotel.

Day 7    Today enjoy a full day Cape Point & Peninsula tour. This awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point encompasses magnificent beaches, breath-taking views, and picturesque coastal villages. The Cape Peninsula is one of the world’s most scenic areas and stretches from the City centre to Cape Point. Note: The drive via Chapman’s Peak is subject to the road being open. Ou Kaapse Weg will be used as an alternative route when necessary.

Day 8    Check out of your hotel. Private transfer to Cape Town Airport for flight home or onward flight to another destination.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON: If time permits, we suggest adding-on a safari in one or several safari camps in either South Africa, or another country (e.g. Botswana).
