CLASSIC POLAND
9 days/8 nights
Poland is best done with a private car and English speaking driver-guide all the way.
DAY 1 Arrive Warsaw
Fly into Warsaw where you will be transferred to your hotel. Time at leisure, perhaps book a welcome dinner. In Warsaw, it’s the Old Town, entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List – it’s where the city’s heart has been beating for centuries. However, when you cross the Vistula River and look at the Old Town from a distance, you are struck by how unusual the panorama of the city is – skyscrapers rise above the red roofs of the Old Town. Historical buildings blend in harmoniously with modern architecture, and the city surprises us by revealing its second face. Overnight Warsaw.
DAY 2 Warsaw - Gdynia
In the morning enjoy a half-day city tour of Warswaw including the Royal Route with Łazienki Park and Palace and the Old Town area with Royal Castle and Market Square. Then your guide will drive to the Tri-city (Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia). Gdynia is a port city on the Baltic coast of Poland. It’s known for its modernist buildings, including the Museum of the City of Gdynia, which has exhibits about local history. Kościuszki Square, with a distinctive fountain as its center, leads to the waterfront. The WWII destroyer ORP Błyskawica and 1909 tall ship Dar Pomorza, now museums, are moored on the Southern Pier Overnight in Gdynia.
DAY 3 Gdynia
Today, enjoy a guided tour of the Tri-city: Długi Targ Street, Neptune Fountain, the Oliva Cathedral inclusive of a concert played on the Roccoco organ, walk along the pier in Sopot, sightseeing tour of Gdynia and the harbour. Return to Gdynia for overnight.
DAY 4 Gdynia-Malbork-Poznań
Today's journey takes us to the Teutonic Knights’ Castle in Malbork, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This 13th-century fortified monastery belonging to the Teutonic Order was substantially enlarged and embellished after 1309, when the seat of the Grand Master moved here from Venice. A particularly fine example of a medieval brick castle, it later fell into decay, but was meticulously restored in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Following severe damage in the Second World War it was once again restored, using the detailed documentation prepared by earlier conservators. Continue on a sightseeing tour of Toruń with the Old Town and Copernicus House. Overnight in Poznań.
DAY 5 Poznan-Wroclaw
In the morning, enjoy a city tour of Poznań with its Old Market Square, 13th century Town Hall. Afterwards, drive to Wrocław for an afternoon guided tour of Wrocław: the original heart of the town on Ostrów Tumski Island, the Old Town, the University with the magnificent Aula Leopoldina. Overnight in Wrocław.
DAY 6 Wroclaw-Częstochowa-Krakow
