Spend time in Reykjavik the capital of Iceland. From Reykjavik enjoy the many natural wonders that make Iceland one of of the most desired countries to visit. This independent tour includes many small group excursions to see the Northern Lights (seasonal), whale watching, the Golden Circle as well as waterfalls. There is also free time with included tickets to the Blue Lagoon and evenings on your own. This itinerary offers the best of both worlds, seeing Iceland while staying in one location.
Day 1 Arrival Reykjavik
Independent early arrival into Keflavik airport. Your driver will meet you in the arrivals hall and transport you to your 4* city center hotel in Reykjavik for 5 nights including breakfast (Hotel Reykjavik Centrum 4* or similar). At 1pm enjoy a 3 hour overview tour of Reykjavik followed by an evening on your own.
Day 2 Reykjavik/Blue Lagoon + Northern Lights
Today you have a shuttle transfer to and from the Blue Lagoon. You will have Comfort entrance tickets to the Blue Lagoon which include a Silica Mud mask, use of a towel, and a drink of choice. Late afternoon return to Reykjavik. At night enjoy a small minibus tour to see the Northern Lights(included). The tour typically begins at 9:30pm and lasts approx. 4 hours. (The Northern Lights can be seen mid-September to mid-April however the best time to see them is October to March.)
Day 3 Reykjavik/Whale Watching
Morning at leisure. This afternoon at 1pm join a Classic Whale Watch cruise. Dress warm for this included 3 hour tour. Evening at leisure.
Day 4 Reykjavik/Golden Circle
Today enjoy the 9-hour Golden Circle Superior Small Group tour (included). You will have the opportunity to see the highlights of this famous route with a more personal touch.
Day 5 Reykjavik/South Iceland
Today you have your final tour to explore the beautiful country of Iceland. Visit the South Coast, Waterfalls and take a Glacier Hike. This included 11 hour small group tour stops at the Skogarfoss; a picturesque waterfall coming down the slopes of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. This waterfall is used in movies and commercials due to its beauty. You will then walk on the Solheimajokull Glacier with a guide and see the Westman Islands rising from the ocean. Evening at leisure.
Day 6 Depart Reykjavik
After breakfast, checkout of your hotel and meet your driver to take you to the Reykjavik Airport. Departure to the USA per your own arrangements.

Iceland is a unique country of natural attractions from sprawling glaciers, beautiful black beaches and historic sites to lesser known gems along the ring road. The self-drive tour is a great way to experience some of Earth’s best natural wonders at your leisure while staying in locally owned accommodation.
Day 1 Arrival Reykjavik - West Iceland
Arrival Keflavik Airport. Flybus transfer to Reykjavik. Pick up your rental car and drive to West Iceland. Explore Snæfellsnes Peninsula known for its beautiful landscape with spectacular mountains, small villages, sparkling fjords and dramatic volcanic peaks. Overnight in Húnaflói/Skagafjörður area.
Day 2 Northwest Iceland & Akureyri
View the majestic Hvítserkur Cliff off Vatnsnes peninsula that legend claims is a petrified troll. Seals can be seen basking on the shore. See the Icelandic horses. End the day at Akureyri, a charming town. Overnight in the Akureyri area.
Day 3 Lake Mývatn area
Take in Goðafoss Waterfall, one of the country’s most impressive waterfalls before continuing to the Lake Mývatn area; end the day by taking a soothing dip in the natural wonder of Mývatn Nature Baths. Overnight in the Mývatn lake area.
Day 4 Northeast Iceland & Egilsstaðir
Head to the Vatnajökull National Park to see sights such as Ásbyrgi Canyon, Dettifoss Waterfall and Hljóðaklettar Cliffs. Overnight in the Egilsstaðir area.
Day 5 The Eastfjords
Visit Djúpivogur from where you can view Papey Island a nature reserve of seabirds and eider ducks, and much more. Continue southward to Höfn town set in stunning scenery and famous for its delicious lobster. Overnight in the Höfn area.
Day 6 Vatnajökull National Park
Stop at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Continue to Skaftafell National Park, Iceland’s most popular wilderness area. Hike to Svartifoss Waterfall and Skaftafellsjökull Glacier. Overnight in the Vík/Kirkjubæjar-klaustur area.
Day 7 South Iceland
Enjoy the magnificent South coast scenery, including Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. Overnight in the Gullfoss/Geysir area.
Day 8 Gullfoss & Geysir
Explore the Golden Circle area which is comprised of the beautiful Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir hot spring area and Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. End of itinerary.
