MALTA in a WEEK
7 days/6 nights
Malta boasts 300 days of sunshine and is a year-round destination. Malta and its islands are small enough that you can stay in one location and explore it all without changing hotels.
DAY 1 ARRIVAL AND WELCOME AT HOTEL
Arrival at Malta International Airport. Welcome Meet & Greet and private transfer to Hotel. Enjoy a welcome dinner at the chosen Hotel or a Local Restaurant.
DAY 2 FULL DAY VISITS TO RABAT, MDINA & DINGLI
This full day tour includes a number of key locations connected with the residence of St. Paul on the Islands. Churches and wayside chapels will be visited, as well as the cave where Paul is believed to have lived and prayed during his three months’ stay in Malta. Key monuments will be visited in Rabat and surrounding areas, and also a visit to Mdina, the old Medieval capital and Silent City will be enjoyed.
Time permitting, you will return via the spectacular Dingli Cliffs.
DAY 3 HALF DAY VISIT TO THE CAPITAL VALLETTA
The entire city of Valletta, Malta’s capital, is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This magnificent fortified gem contains numerous buildings of historic importance.
The visit will enable you to experience some of the highlights this bustling Baroque city has to offer – magnificent 17th and 18th century architecture, breath-taking views of one of Europe’s most impressive natural harbours, the magnificent palace of the Grand Masters and of course Pauline churches with beautiful artefacts.
Afternoon at your own leisure.
DAY 4 FULL DAY VISIT TO THE SISTER ISLAND OF GOZO
A short ferryboat crossing from the North of the Island, the tour of Gozo starts with a visit to the world's oldest manmade religious structures – the Ggantija Prehistoric Temples, erected during the Neolithic Age (c. 3600-2500 BC). Together with other similar structures, these have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Tour will continue with visits to some of the island’s spectacular natural locations, visit the Citadel, as well as a number of shrines and churches connected with St Paul and the Maltese Islands.
DAY 5 HALF DAY TOUR OF CENTRAL MALTA AND THE THREE CITIES
Today, visit the church of Mosta, to admire the third-largest church dome in Europe - 40 meters in diameter - superseded only by St Peter's Basilica in Rome and the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. Its design is closely based on the dome of the Pantheon in Rome. This church is also the site where the famous legendary event of an unexploded bomb, dropped during WWII, occurred.
From here the group will proceed to the Three Cities, commencing with a drive through Cospicua and then on to Senglea, where you will make a short 30 minute stop at the Gardjola Gardens to enjoy the panoramic view that includes the docks in Marsa, Valletta, the entrance to the Grand Harbour and Fort St. Angelo.
The city of Birgu was established on the Grand Harbour of Malta around Fort St. Angelo, and served as Malta's principal harbour.
A brief tour around the Collachio (an area originally reserved only for the Knights) will show you the many old Auberges of the Knights, and the Inquisitor’s Palace, one of the very few surviving examples of a style of palace that would have been found all over Europe and South America in the early modern period.
DAY 6 FULL DAY AT SEA ON A PRIVATE SAILING YACHT
If you enjoy being on the water, we suggest a full day out on the clear blue Mediterranean sea as you sail up the north eastern coast of Malta to the Blue Lagoon. Your skipper will teach you a few handy sailing tips and also allow you to take charge of the yacht and sail her to the blue lagoon and back again.
We will drop anchor just off the Blue lagoon and spend a few hours swimming and snorkling the crystal clear waters.
A cold lunch will be served on board together with free flowing wine, beer and soft drinks as well as plenty of snacks to keep you going.
DAY 7 DEPART MALTA
After breakfast at leisure, transfer to Malta International Airport.
