In 2012 media giant Disney visited Norway in search of inspiration for their movie, Frozen.
Frozen premiered in 2013 and became an astonishing success. The success continued as Frozen 2 hit the theatres in November 2019 (UK and US). We are all excited to follow Elsa on her quest to save Arendelle together with her sister, Anna, and friends Kristoff, Olaf and Sven.
Norway is in many ways the embodiment of the Frozen universe, with its blue winter light, crispy snow, fresh air and serene atmosphere. If you come to Norway we are happy to take you on an unforgettable Frozen-inspired adventure, where Scandinavia Tours AS will bring you the very best of the winter wonderland Norway. Our tour package includes the very best of activities the winter Eldorado and host of the 1994 winter Olympics games, Lillehammer, has to offer. Experience nature while sleigh riding, feel the adrenaline rush in the tobbogan run and visit the breath-taking ice cathedral. After a day full of adventures, sleep comfortably in one of our selected hotels and eat marvelous food in one of our partnering restaurants. Welcome to a once in a lifetime fairy tale in winter wonderland.
Day 1: Oslo Airport – Lillehammer
Arrival at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen.
Meet your English speaking tour conductor at the airport, who will follow the group for the next 5 days. Transfer by coach to Lillehammer. Check in at Lillehammer Hotel, located in a large private park in walking distance from the city center of Lillehammer. Welcome with aperitif and snack, where the tour conductor will inform you about the program for the coming days. As we want you to stay warm during your adventure, we take you to the best shop for winter clothing in Lillehammer for exclusive shopping after hours. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Sightseeing Lillehammer and visit Maihaugen
Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing in Lillehammer including a visit to the outdoor Olympic Games facilities. Leisure time in Lillehammer and lunch on your own. Visit to The Norwegian Olympic Museum at Maihaugen, where after we will visit the rural section at Maihaugen open-air museum. Among the many old sunburned buildings, which were the homes of farmers, craftsmen and local officials, you can feel an adventurous atmosphere. Here you will meet the culture and the way of life of the old farming community. Sleigh ride with horse among the old houses, before we visit Mrs. Bye at the Olsen farm. She invites us in for a cup of hot beverage in her living room, and tells us about life in 1938. Afterwards we go out in the snow and have fun with winter activities. We end the visit at Maihaugen with dinner in an old traditional guest house, before we walk back to the hotel (700 meters). We will light up the road with each our torch.
Day 3: Outdoor activities high up in the mountains
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by coach up to the mountain Venabygdsfjellet, 930 m.a.s.l., on the border of Rondane National park. Spidsbergseter Resort will be our base camp today. Professional guides organize different outdoor winter activities, like dog sledging and snow shoe walking. We will be out in pure and magnificent nature with clean air and total silence. Guess what! We might meet “Elsa” today…Back at the hotel we will enjoy an amazing lunch buffet.
After lunch we compete in Mountain Curling, inspired by the Austrians. To warm up your body after the activities in the snow, you can visit the hotels` wellness area with swimming pool, sauna, steam bath and whirlpool. Maybe the adults would like to visit the unique bar, “Aquavit Barn”,
to taste one of the nearly hundred different types of the noble drink, Aquavit. This bar is in an original goat barn from the 1850s. The smell is gone but the traditions and stories remain in the walls. In the evening we will enjoy a great dinner at Spidsbergseter Resort, before we return to our hotel in Lillehammer.
Day 4: Toboggan run and visit to Hunderfossen Winter Park
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer by coach to “Lysgårdsbakkene”, the Olympic ski jump for a
fast paced outdoor experience in the snow. Toboggan run is real fun and suitable for both young and old! The ski lift will bring you to the top of the hill, from where you can slide down the route, 1 km. Lunch at Telemarkstunet, approx. 300 metres above the ski jump. Some of the buildings are replicas from the 1700’s and beautifully decorated. Transfer back to the hotel after lunch. Leisure time. Transfer by coach to Hunderfossen Winter Park. Be prepared for an enchanting winter evening. Here you will find attractions for the whole family and a lot of exciting entertainment!
An English-speaking guide meets you on arrival and is at your disposal all evening. The guide will show you the Ice Sculptures, Ice Cathedral, Snow Hotel with ice bar, the Fairytale Palace and Fairytale Cave. In the Winter park there are sleigh rides, bonfires, “little prince” 4-D cinema and the ice princess sings in the castle garden. In the Witch Forest you can watch a show with acting and singing. We end this fantastic day with a great fireworks show. After the fireworks we will be guided through the adventure cave on their way to dinner in the “Trolls Hall Restaurant”. In this spectacular restaurant, the roof is held up by big Trolls (traditional Norwegian fairytale figures).
Return to the hotel.
Day 5: Lillehammer – Oslo Airport Gardermoen
Breakfast at the hotel. Time to check out and say goodbye to Lillehammer and Norway for now. Transfer by coach back to Oslo Airport Gardermoen, for flight back home.
Please note: Subject to changes in the program due to climate conditions, as well as private events in the Trollsalen Restaurant. The Winter Park program must be scheduled for their regular opening days in February (changes yearly)
