This is an easy self-drive, but can also be enjoyed with a private car and English speaking driver-guide.
Day 1 Arrive Vienna (Austria), or Bratislava, Slovakia
Arrival at Vienna airport (or Bratislava Airport), transfer to your hotel. Time to walk the city center. Overnight Vienna or Bratislava.
Day 2 Drive to - Banska Bystrica
This morning, pick up your rental car. Depart Vienna and make your way to Slovakia. Things to visit on route to Banska Bystrica:
Nitra city with Cathedral of St. Emeram
Banska Stiavnica - UNESCO heritage town
Hronsek – UNESCO articular wooden church
Arrival in Banska Bystrica and overnight.
Day 3 Banska Bystrica - Kosice
Things to visit on route to Kosice:
Low Tatras national park/Demanovska valley and visit one of the most beautiful caves in Slovakia – Demanovska Cave of Liberty
Pribylina open air museum of Liptov village
Arrival in Kosice and overnight.
Day 4 Kosice
Spend a full day in in Kosice – European capital of culture 2013.
We suggest you join a walking city tour „Top Highlights“. Kosice is a city in eastern Slovakia, close to the Hungarian border. Its origins go back to the medieval period, and the central Lower Gate archaeological complex preserves fortifications from the 13th century. Hlavné námestie, the main square, is home to 2 Gothic churches: the huge St. Elisabeth Cathedral and the 14th-century St. Michael Chapel. Nearby, St. Urban’s Tower contains a museum of wax figurines.
Overnight in Kosice.
Day 5 Kosice – High Tatras mountain region
Today's drive takes you to Spis Castle, a UNESCO heritage site. Then
continue to Levoca city for a possible visit of Church of St. James, the highest wooden altar in the world.

Kezmarok town with its town castle, UNESCO wooden Evangelical Church
Stara Lubovna with its castle and nice open air museum
Arrival to Tatranska Lomnica, an ideal starting point for hiking in the High Tatras National Park. Overnight in Tatranska Lomnica.
Day 6 High Tatras mountain region
Chance for some hiking in the High Tatras National Park. We suggest you
take the Ground Cable Car (GCC) to Hrebienok, 1285m above sea level and walk to the Zamkovskeho Chalet along Cold Creek Waterfalls (1:15 h), from the Chalet continue to Rocky tarn via Tatra magistrala (1:35)
From Rocky tarn it is also possible to continue to Tatranska Lomnica (1:30 h walk) or by cable car.
Overnight in Tatranska Lomnica.
Day 7 High Tatras mountain region - Bratislava
Time to leave this mountain region and return to the city.

Cicmany - village of "Gingerbread houses"
Rajecka Lesna, visiting Slovak Betlehem - wooden carved Betlehem representing all regions of Slovakia and moving figures representing traditional works and crafts
Arrival in Bratislava. If time permits, enjoy a city tour . Overnight in Bratislava.
Day 8 Bratislava – Vienna airport
Drive to Vienna airport, or Bratislava Airport. Return your rental car and fly back home. End of your Slovakia experience.
