ROMANIA

Romania by Car

10 days / 9 nights

2N Bucharest – 2N Sibiu – 1N Viscri – 2N Zabola – 2 N Brasov

This itinerary can be done as a self-drive with rental car or with a chauffeur driver.

Day 1 Arrive into the Bucharest Airport. Meet with the driver for your private transfer to the hotel.  2 Overnights in Bucharest.

Day 2 Enjoy a walking tour of Bucharest in the morning, with the afternoon at leisure to explore on your own. Bucharest is Romania’s capital and largest city, with an interesting blend of beautiful architecture from the early 20th century and significant communist-era landmarks.

Day 3 Pickup from your hotel by the private driver and drive to Sibiu, in

Transylvania. You can stop on the way to Cozia or Curtea de Arges orthodox

monasteries, and optionally drive on the altitude scenic road of Transfagarasan.  2 Overnights in Sibiu.

Day 4 Time to discover Sibiu, one of the best-preserved medieval cities in

Romania. Drive to Sibiel village for a traditional lunch at a local

family, with the afternoon at leisure in Sibiu.

Day 5 Depart for Sighisoara, a UNESCO patrimony site, a

medieval citadel continuously inhabited ever since its

settlement by the German colonists, and in the afternoon

continue to Viscri, a German village, nestled between the dense

oak forests that cover these hills, like most of the Saxon

settlements. Also a UNESCO site, Viscri is one of the villages in

Romania where the HRH King Charles III, who has been actively involved in

the efforts of preservation the nature and the rural life and architecture in

Romania, owns a traditional house. Accommodation in a restored

traditional Saxon house.

1 Overnight in Viscri.

Day 6 Half-day in Viscri and then drive to Szeklerland, a beautiful area

that has largely escaped the scars of industrial pollution, inhabited by the

Szekler minority in Romania.  2 Overnights at Zabola Estate.

Day 7 Full day at this unique and charming location that belongs to the Mikes

family, of the old Transylvanian nobility. Bearwatching, horse back riding or time at their SPA are just some of the options for today.

Day 8 Drive to Prejmer UNESCO fortified church and then continue to Bran

castle, aka Dracula’s castle, a beautiful 14th century castle, famously known as

the home to fictional count Dracula. In the afternoon you will be in Brasov,

another important city of Transylvania, with a colorful medieval Saxon centre,

housing The Black Church - the largest between Vienna and Constantinople. 2 Overnights in Brasov.

Day 9 Full day to explore Brasov and relax.

Day 10 Transfer to Bucharest for the return flight.
